The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
